Gout, how to reverse it and how not to, have to go slow, you want to avoid oxalate dumping.
This explains perfectly why I never had gout, went carnivore, got gout the second week and then after another week or so it went away. Very cool.
This video just reminded me I haven’t felt my gout since I started carnivore almost 2 years ago. Can confirm it cures it 👌
Had a gout attack a few months ago. Doc ask about my diet. Started to say, I've started the Carnivore diet but still drinking alot of diet pop. He cut me off before i could fully say Carnivore and said eat more veggies and fiber. Tried to mention the pop again and he cut me off.
Now the office is wondering why I've missed the last couple appointments.... I wonder 🤔
Timely short video Dr. Chaffee. I have oxalate toxicity and started carnivore over a month ago to help with all my issues. Dumping is real so I’m lowering oxalates instead of cold Turkey cutting them out. Benefits of carnivore are on the plus side of the page! Thank you for all your info.
Fructose is a huge causal factor.
Truth, i got all that through my journey, first keto and then carnivore, i got rid of gout and high uric acid
I have had gout for years even on a plant based diet, but it completely disappeared when I switched to Carnivore in April last year..
There must be something else going on, because I was always told to stop eating red meat 🥩
Oxalate dumping triggering gout is real. I experienced it after doing carnivore the 1st time. Was losing 10 pounds per week then got laid up for a few days. Was some of the worst flareups I had in terms of pain and sensitivity even though the duration was short.
After I got through that though, it was smooth sailing. No gout attacks.
To deal with the pain severity of my attacks in the past I have to take steroids, anti-inflammatories, and pain killers by the handful as they would last for weeks on end and I would be essentially bed bound the entire time and in the recovery phase I would be forced to use a walker/cane/crutches to get around until I had full mobility.
Gout started after I went carnivore, but I realized it was from stewed meat and homemade bone broth. I'm still primarily meat based, but after eating stew meat once or twice my gout pain returns. Maybe it just released all the sweet potatoes and sardines I ate before that.
I was experiencing hot flashes in my big toes before carnivore diet. I’ve been carb free for 2 months now, 57yo and a very fit 220lbs. I originally thought the pain was from box jumps or double unders. Now that carnivore diet has eliminated all other joint pain except for this occasional flare up, your explanation is very encouraging. Funny how Mayo Clinic (and others) claim red meat is a contributing factor. Funny queer that is, not funny haha. Thanks doc.
Yeah, it can be worse than that. If you suddenly stop the oxalates, and have lots build up in your body, and then they start to jump into your bloodstream, you could end up with little micro tears all over your body, kidney stones, painful deposits, and all your joints, and on it goes.
It’s a much better idea to plan on removing just a certain percentage, and make it a very small one, from your diet out of time, so that the ratio between what stored in your body, and what’s in your bloodstream is minimal. You don’t get dumping that way.
Just sayin’. Because nobody needs systemic, inflammation and pain everywhere from the bottom of the feet, into the brain.
And it’s not like it just disappears in 24 hours. You could be in bad shape for a very long time if you don’t plan.
And maybe have a back up plan that looks a little bit like slowing down any oxalate dumping by maybe eating an almond or something else with oxalates in it, just to even up the ratio between what’s already in your bloodstream, and the amount in the rest of your body.
